What is iCloud Sync?
2STP iCloud Sync is an optional feature that keeps your account data up-to-date across all your iOS devices.
When enabled, an encrypted copy of your account data is stored in your iCloud account, and changes on one device are automatically synced to all other devices.
iCloud Sync also powers 2STP Companion, an app available from the Mac App Store that lets you see your codes in your Mac's Notification Center.
-
How secure is iCloud Sync?
Unlike other authenticator apps, 2STP encrypts your iCloud Sync data with a passcode that you choose. In addition, the encrypted data is stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers. This means that even if an attacker compromises Apple's iCloud servers, they won't be able to decrypt your account data without your passcode.
2STP iCloud Sync is also entirely optional, and your account data will never be uploaded to iCloud if the feature is not enabled.
-
How does iCloud Sync work with the Apple Watch app?
When account data is changed on one device, the updated account data is distributed to all connected iOS devices.
If any connected iPhones have a paired Apple Watch, the Apple Watch will receive the updated account data from its paired iPhone.
iCloud Sync updates only occur when 2STP for iOS is active, so you will have to launch the iOS app at least once to see the updated account data on your Watch.

Why do I need to enable iCloud?
Since iCloud Sync uses your personal iCloud space to store its data, you need to be logged into iCloud in order for this feature to work.
To enable iCloud, open the iOS Settings app, go to iCloud, then log in with your Apple ID and password.
If you still see this screen even when you are logged in, try turning your device off and on again, or logging out and back in to iCloud.
-
What should I pick when I'm asked if this is the first device?
If the device you are setting up is the first device on which you have enabled iCloud Sync, tap "Yes."
Otherwise, if you have already set up iCloud Sync on a different device, tap "No."

2STP is stuck on the Waiting for iCloud Sync screen.
This means that the iCloud Sync data is not accessible from this device.
There are reports that iCloud Sync does not work if devices are running different versions of iOS and/or iCloud Drive is not enabled. If possible, make sure you are running the latest version of iOS and that iCloud Drive is enabled.
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
First, make sure that you have already set up iCloud Sync on a different device. If this is the first device for which you are enabling iCloud Sync, go back and tap "Yes."
Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
Ensure that iCloud Drive is enabled on both your Mac and iOS device.
Ensure that all your devices are logged in with the same Apple ID and password.
Turn your device off and on again.
Uninstall 2STP and reinstall it.
Log out of iCloud and log in again.
If none of these steps work, email me for further support.

What should I do at the Choose Data to Keep screen?
Since the data on your device is different from the data already in iCloud, you'll have to decide which set of data to keep.
In most cases, you'll want to merge the two sets of data with each other. To do that, make sure "Merge" is selected at the top, then tap "Merge Data".
Otherwise, if you only want to keep one set of data, choose the appropriate option at the top, then tap the "Keep iCloud Data" or "Keep This Device's Data" button. Please be aware that the other set of data will be permanently deleted.
You can always make changes after the initial set up process, and those changes will automatically sync to your other devices.
